Improved management of services at Alstom Power

Need for cost reduction

Alstom Essen is an industrial site of 101,150 m² with production facilities and offices, and employs almost 330 people. Previously, the Facilities Management skills were provided by the main leaseholder, GE Energie products. Three GE employees were in charge of the Facility Management services.

As a result of GE-Energie products in Essen being closed down, and the need to reduce Facility Management costs, Alstom Power was responsible for creating a new structure for technical, infra-structural and commercial Facility Management.

An open tender was invited.

Faceo beat the competition by coming up with the right design.

Steering facilities service provision

Faceo attained its target through the following strategy :

- Reappointment of the Facility Manager from GE Energie products
- Co-operation agreement for technical Facility Management
- One sub-contractor for the infra-structural FM (SMI)
- Streamlining of the services to be provided

Adapted service levels

As a result, Faceo’s costs were 30% lower than the previous costs, whilst the same service levels were maintained.

An initial survey of the work indicates that the occupant’s expectations were satisfactorily met.

Because of the new tenant structure on site, Faceo was able to carry out several additional projects.
