Staff reduction for a telecommunication and industrial electronics Belgian player

The facility provides mechanical products and system integration to the telecommunications and industrial electronics industries.

The client asked Faceo Security & Prevention (FSP) to carry out a consultancy study to review current security design and to decrease security staff from 2 to 1 FTE.

Security and safety : implementing innovative technical systems

The result of our study was to automate vehicular and pedestrian access and to close the security booth at the main entrance. All entry points will be card access-controlled and surveillance cameras will be put in place to prevent unauthorized entry. The flow of vehicles and pedestrians will be remotely monitored by the security guard at the delivery entrance.

Security management contract tems

The client accepted the methods we proposed and asked FSP (our subsidiary dedicated to security management) to manage the whole project from tender documentation and contractor selection to final acceptance.

The project included :

- Automation of the existing sliding gate and installation of a rising barrier with anti-pedestrian protection
- High bar curtains to restrict access underneath and prevent climbing over the barrier arm
- Installation of a full-height turnstile with 3 rotor sections and 120 degrees of passage space to control pedestrian access
- CCTV-coverage to monitor and identify persons and vehicles entering and exiting the premises
- Installation of a full duplex digital video recording system (DVR), providing site security management features, local video surveillance, video recording, playback and archiving, as well as off-site video monitoring and alarm verification
- Intercoms installed at the turnstile, gate and barrier to provide easy remote verification before allowing visitor or employee access
- Installation of additional fencing to stop people directly entering the site or bypassing the security system, and to separate pedestrian and vehicle flow
- Renovation of the security booth as a visitor waiting area
- Adaptation of all existing procedures, work instructions, schedules etc. and training of the security guards

Facility management : a fast return on investment

With a significant cost saving per annum on manned guarding and the automation of the main entrance, FSP was able to achieve a return on the client’s investment in less than 12 months.
